Mark Zuckerberg: “The Metaverse will be a pretty big part of our business”
Meta, formerly Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, said that the metaverse is the future of their company.
Facebook changed its name to “Meta” last October, restructuring the company with a vision to “create a ‘metaverse‘ that connects online social experiences and the physical world . “
Mark Zuckerberg, who was a guest on CNBC’s Mad Money program on June 23, suggested that a huge economy will form around the metaverse and create great opportunities for content producers.
Stating that he is excited for a world where “millions of people can do creative work that will make them happy as a profession”, Zuckerberg said that the metaverse is a great business opportunity for them as well.
Mentioning that Metaverse will be a big pillar of their business, especially over the next few years, the CEO continued as follows:
“We hope to introduce billions of people to the metaverse by the end of this decade. Users who will trade hundreds of dollars will buy different things such as digital goods, digital content, avatar outfits to express themselves, digital products for their virtual home or those used to design the conference room.”
On the other hand, Zuckerberg admitted that it will take time to introduce billions of people to the metaverse. Saying that their business model is based on first growing the business and then making money, the CEO added:
“Our playbook says to create service first, try to serve as many people as possible (…), and then move on to monetization.”
